Waikiki Beach Walk Public Art

RSM Design was eager to participate in the transformation of Lewers Street in downtown Waikiki into one of the largest mixed-use developments in the area. This destination brings together international retail with the resort environment and includes five hotels, an outdoor entertainment plaza, and dozens of retailers and restaurants. The integration of lacquered hardwoods, reminiscent of historic surfboards, was incorporated to enrich the local surf history. RSM Design was able to develop a signage program that is unique to the location by incorporating traditional Hawaiian patterns, language, song, and images throughout the project such as the inclusion of a natural stone fountain with Hawaiian lyrics, as well as educational plaques.
