Cooper Molera Adobe Branding
Nestled in Monterey, Cooper Molera Adobe is a historic property jointly managed with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Foothill Partners. As an entire effort to renovate the site, transitioning from a state park into an array of new uses, including museums, gardens, a bakery, restaurant and events venue, RSM Design was brought onto the team to develop the brand and logo design for the historic mixed use space.

The intersection of historic preservation and design
The illustrations seen in the brand are directly inspired by the story of the original cattle brand of the Cooper family. The creativity of the brand mark was uncovered during the design team’s research phase. The RSM Design team explored both primary and secondary sources of information at the on-site archives and the California History Room archives in the City of Monterrey Library. The letters are drawn from existing historical references within the city of Monterrey, current with the site’s origins in the 1840s.
The Cooper Molera Adobe aims to create a experience that is unique to Monterey, California. The brand emphasizes the harmony of the casual and refined qualities of the local lifestyle. It is defined by openness & synergy, risk-takers and the juxtaposition of past & present.
