RSM Welcomes New Members to the Team!

We are thrilled to announce the addition of three new, talented and vibrantly unique designers to our creative team! Meet Marianne Caupers, Jeff Hertzler and Leon Wood…

Marianne comes to us from Lisbon, Portugal. Born in Paris and raised in Lisbon she offers a global perspective of design to the RSM team. She has her degree in industrial and graphic design from the School of Architecture, Technical University of Lisbon and has previous work experience as a designer for an international commercial development company. She specializes in logos and branding and adds a colorful spirit and cultural flavor to the team with her knowledge of great cheese and ability to speak five languages!

Jeff is a local Southern Californian raised on San Clemente’s sunny beaches and a graduate from Point Loma Nazarene University. He brings a wide range of talents to our team and is an active part of the many multifacets of design including branding, advertising and architecture. When not at the office, Jeff spends his time training to be a triathlete. With his work ethic, energy and determination we have no doubt this feat will be accomplished soon!

Leon is a recent architecture graduate from USC and daily makes the loop from his hometown of Rancho Santa Margarita (aka RSM) to the Redmond Schwartz Mark office (aka RSM). He enjoys combining his interests in 2D and 3D design with typography, focusing on letter shapes and forms and has experience working both in graphic design and architecture on both national and international projects. He hopes to one day visit the Great Pyramids, road trip across the US and spend a day at Corbusier’s chapel at Ronchamp.

5th Annual Chili Cook Off Gets Heated!

The Friday before Super Bowl weekend, as has become the tradition, members of the RSM team participated in the annual Chili Cook-Off. Six chili entries simmered throughout the morning filling the office with mouthwatering and somewhat distracting, rich and spicy aromas. Once our eager stomachs could wait no longer, the tasting began.

Chilis ranged from sweet to spicy, from meaty to veggie, and some new comers included chuck roast, curry and molasses as special ingredients. As each team member ate to their heartburn’s content, there was chit-chatter, laughter and hovering as speculation grew over which chili might take home the coveted award. Each one was unique and scrumptious and the task at hand proved to be a tough decision.

Alas at the end of the day, Kyle’s spicy chuck roast chili was the grand prize winner, making him champ for the THIRD time out of five cook offs! It was unmistakably delicious to boot and once again well-deserved. Congratulations to all who competed in making it a hard choice and a huge extra thank you to the rest of the team who brought all the fixin’s for the chili!

As we continue to dive into the designs for these new projects, we look forward to investigating rich and colorful cultures, traveling to unique locations, and creating dynamic new environmental graphics systems for these project types. We’ll be posting soon new designs for these varied projects… graphics systems ranging from a boutique resort and spa,  to a world class retail renovation, to a new downtown, and to an entire community. The signage and graphics package designed for the University of California Riverside’s Highlander Union Building (HUB) has been completed just in time for the 2010 fall semester.

During the commons expansion project, the students on the building committee had asked for a signature monument – a “Kodak moment” location, and now the large UCR sign at the bell tower will serve that purpose. “Given that the HUB is at the center of campus, the students who participated in its design wanted the building and this area of campus to instill a sense of pride in UCR,” said Susan Allen Ortega, dean of students. “The new signage was developed with this goal in mind.”
