RSM Design Celebrates 20 Years!

RSM DESIGN IS EXCITED TO CELEBRATE OUR 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. FOR TWO DECADES, WE’VE FOSTERED MEANINGFUL CONNECTION BETWEEN PEOPLE AND PLACE.

RSM Design has been a thought leader in Environmental Graphics, pushing boundaries, fueling innovation and creating change. From the start, it’s always been about engaging people, crafting meaningful stories and sharing amazing experiences, and it still is today.

“RSM Design is full of some of my favorite people on the planet. You’re one of the most creative, thoughtful, and client focused teams I’ve ever worked with and you somehow always find the essence of every project you touch. It’s elegant and simple, allowing us to come as close to the truth as we can.” – Isaac Manning, client

To celebrate this milestone, we hosted a 1920’s themed party at the Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA. It was a night full of fun, cupcakes, live music, dance lessons, a photo booth and the whole team.

To have collaborated with so many amazing people and clients over the years, we’re so grateful to have shared and created some truly transformative designs.

Thank you again for filling these past 20 years with so many friendships, creativity and way too much fun —

Cheers!

RSM Design Wins 2016 American Graphic Design Awards

Two recent RSM Design projects, Pavilion Park (Irvine, CA), and Pacific City (Huntington Beach, CA) have been selected as winners in the 2016 American Graphic Design Awards. The competition, which draws over 10,000 submissions a year, selects entries in each category to receive the award. Both of RSM Design’s projects won in the Environmental Graphics category and were featured on the GD USA website, as well as in their printed Design Annual.

Pavilion Park, located in the Great Park in Irvine, California, is iconic to the region and features a collection of unique neighborhoods joined together by walking and biking trails, with plans to eventually link to the Irvine Transportation Center. RSM Design has been working in collaboration with FivePoint Communities to create signage and wayfinding for each neighborhood and park as well as a unifying master plan signage system that encourages visitors to engage in the overall Great Park experience.

Pacific City is a new retail destination comprised of village-like elements that showcase Orange County’s beautiful coastline, as well as the fun and colorful history of Huntington Beach, California. RSM Design worked closely with Jerde Partners to create a distinct signage, wayfinding, and specialty graphics program that captures the spirit of the project’s beach-side shopping and dining experience.

Cheers to a New Year!

The past year has been an exciting and prosperous one for us here at RSM Design. As the year winds to an end and we look towards 2017, we would like to take our time and resources to give back and show our thanks to our community. This year, we designed custom water bottles and challenged everyone to join us in donating funds to Filter of Hope, an organization dedicated to providing clean water to families around the world.

Filter of Hope worked to develop a water filter that removes bacteria, protozoa, and micro-organisms from contaminated water, and make it completely safe to drink. The filter costs $40, cleans up to 150 gallons a day, and lasts up to 10 years. Their filters have been distributed all over the country and across the globe, to communities living in poverty, countries struck by natural disaster, and to areas where the drinking water is deemed unsafe to consume. To date, Filter of Hope has distributed over 45,000 filters in 49 different countries, and helps to clean over 7,000,000 gallons of water every single day.

There are many ways to help out, and you can read about them here. A single $40 donation provides a family with enough clean drinking water to last 10 years, and we think that’s something to raise a glass to!

From everyone here at RSM Design, we’d like to say thank you for a stellar 2016, and cheers to 2017!

Earlier this month, Greensboro, NC welcomed its newest park to town. LeBauer Park was the vision of Carolyn LeBauer, who passed away in 2012, but left a fund to the Community Foundation of Greensboro with the instructions to "build a spectacular park." And now, after a few years of planning and design by The Office of James Burnett, LeBauer Park is a spectacular reality. The park amenities include everything from a putting green to a children's rock wall, a playground, performance space, and an opportunity for public art installations (which right now features a beautiful installation from Janet Echelman). And it appears that it's an instant hit with the locals.

“It's something really unique that a lot of other cities are looking at and want to do and copy for themselves,” said Guilford County Parks and Recreation Director Walter Walcutt.

RSM Design was commissioned to develop an identity and wayfinding program for the park, which includes the main identity sign that has been a hit on Instagram since the opening earlier this month. The goal of the project was to develop a simple, elegant, and organic approach to the signage, to help create a place where visitors could discover the many amenities. Additionally, given its prime location surrounded by the Children's Museum, ArtQuest, and the library, the signage had to be friendly and welcoming to visitors of all ages.

The Crow Collection of Asian Art Unveils New Exterior Signage

RSM Design has been working with Oglesby Greene Architects and The Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas, TX to give the museum’s exterior a modern and timeless renewal. The simple and elegant signage speaks to the renowned collection of relics inside, many of which come from the famed collection of long-time Dallasites Trammel and Margaret Crow. The Crows spent a large part of their later years visiting China and began collecting Asian art and artifacts, especially jade. RSM Design is proud to work with The Crow Collection to help bridge the cultural gap between east and west, and showcase works of art from around the globe.

On Sunday August 21, the Dallas Cowboys’ new corporate headquarters and training facility opened in Frisco, TX. The facility, a project that has been in the works for the past 3 years, was officially welcomed to the world of football on with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and an official Cowboys team practice. The new compound is a joint venture between the Cowboys and the City of Frisco, and will play host to a number of high school sporting events in addition to Cowboys practices.

The Star is a 90-acre campus about 25 miles north of Dallas. It features a hotel, shopping and entertainment space, offices, a sports medicine center, two outdoor practice fields, and a 12,000-seat indoor stadium. RSM Design was invited to develop a strategy and design for the outdoor signage, linking all the various aspects of the projects and creating a seamless experience for visitors. The process was a highly collaborative effort, and the final vision is a proper expression of the legendary Dallas Cowboys brand, respecting the professionalism and success of the organization, while providing an engagin guest experience.
